Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) galleries open
let’s take a walk through history
12 galleries in the Grand Egyptian Museum opened recently, and we are now taking excited guests on tours.
The galleries holding the Tutankhamun collection and solar boats are not open yet, but the other galleries give visitors a wealth of Egyptian history that make the GEM absolutely worth exploring while we look forward to the full opening (date not confirmed).
Many of the artifacts on display were previously shown in the Museum of Antiquities in Tahrir Square, which continues to operate with improved displays and is also still worth visiting with us if you have more than a few days in Cairo.
Items not previously displayed in the older museum can now be seen at the GEM, making it exciting even for those who have visited the old museum many times.
