Countless women are involved in travel:
those who explore the world as tourists, writers, photographers and artists, and the guides, travel advisors and other essential travel company staff who make dreams come true for many.
We celebrate women who travel and those who help others make the best of their time exploring, from the cities to the deserts and from the monuments of the past to the vibrant life of Egypt today, discovering more about themselves along the way.

The number of women travelling internationally has increased substantially in the last 70 years, and continues to increase as women become more confident of travelling alone or in groups to places that perhaps previously they were warned against visiting.
We welcome all women to Egypt, whether you prefer a personal tour or to travel with friends or in small groups.

Women were among the earliest travelers to Egypt, and some wrote books about their trips. Amelia Edwards after her visit founded the Egypt Exploration Society (EES) in 1882 with Reginal Stuart Poole, whose mother Sophia Lane Poole lived for some time in Egypt and also wrote about her experiences, while assisting his uncle Edward William researching and writing about Egyptian life. You can read more here about these and other women travelers of past centuries.

Women also came to Egypt not primarily as tourists. Many nurses from various countries were stationed in Egypt during WWI and WWII, some took photos or had photos taken of their experiences working and also of their off duty excursions, and wrote about their time here.

During many of our tours you have opportunities to meet local women, to gain some understanding of their traditions and culture as practiced today.
If you choose our Dahabiya Nile Sailing tours, you may see a painting by Egyptian artist Maha Gamil in your cabin, another way we introduce you to the lives of women in Egypt.

However you would like to explore Egypt, we can provide the perfect tour for you. We aim to make travel throughout Egypt a more exciting, educational, comfortable and secure experience for everyone.
