We ensure our guests in Egypt are secure and comfortable wherever we tour. Our team works and lives throughout Egypt and we would not advise you to travel if our on-the-ground assessment suggests there is a risk.

If you have concerns about traveling, please discuss these with our Travel Advisors.

For updates on what our guests are experiencing in Egypt, we also recommend you follow us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/RealEgypt?mibextid=ZbWKwL or our other social media. We regularly post short videos of our guests talking about their tour, while they are here. We hope that hearing from our guests directly will lessen your concerns.

Insert 2 to 3-minute video of recent guests’ comments. Also, add a few other photos to break up the text.

At any time, anywhere in the world, there can be conflicts, natural disasters, or health issues that can impact on your travel plans.

Unfortunately, the media tend to sensationalize what is happening and often misrepresent the situation regarding safety in countries that are near areas of conflict.

Sometimes it can seem that a conflict is much closer to your destination than it actually is. Naturally, this can make some people uncomfortable about traveling and they may reconsider visiting.

Our Cancellation Policy does give you the potential to reschedule in case of Force Majeure, something that is out of our control and when travel becomes impossible.

While such a situation is disappointing, under such circumstances we apply our usual cancellation policy if you choose to cancel or delay at any time.

We can be flexible with our policy if there is an official statement or warning from the government of Egypt.

HEALTH AWARENESS

We want our guests to be assured their well-being is our major concern throughout your tours. We take all possible precautions, but in any country, there is always the risk of some illnesses. Our team is trained to react appropriately if this ever happens to a guest.

Meals

Local cuisine is part of our tour experiences, especially in home visits but also as part of our onboard meals.

If you are not comfortable trying different foods or have a sensitive digestive system, we can provide alternatives.

Please advise us before your tour so we can accommodate your needs.

Bathroom

Do not brush your teeth with tap water, please use only bottled water.

Always wash hands thoroughly before eating and especially after using the toilet.

Swimming in the Nile

The places specifically chosen to swim during tours are areas where the Nile is cleanest, near the beaches in the South of Egypt. We advise guests not to drink Nile water, and not to swallow the water if they choose to swim.

While the risk of contracting schistosomiasis or bilharzia is low, it is a possibility so our guests should be aware of it.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Health and travel-related concerns may be different for every traveler, there is no single answer for what plan would offer all travelers the best travel insurance.

Travel insurance is not required for visitors to Egypt, but is recommended for all.

As regulations sometimes change, you should contact your nearest Egyptian Consulate or the Egyptian Embassy for the most up-to-date travel insurance requirements. Then choose your travel insurance according to any requirements.

Any international trip can be unpredictable so we recommend you are protected in case of injury or illness, as well as protected for travel-related disruptions such as cancellation or delays.

The price of travel insurance for Egypt will vary from plan to plan as every trip is different, and every traveler has different concerns and needs. Travel insurance costs are influenced by:

Duration of trip

Number of travelers

Age of travelers

Benefits included in the plan

Travelers can expect to pay more for their insurance as the risk involved with the trip increases. For example, protecting a month trip will cost more than protecting a shorter trip.

Though adding more coverages can increase the price of your travel insurance policy, travelers coming to Egypt may find the extra benefits worthwhile if a medical emergency or other unexpected travel-related situation is covered. Insurance may offer coverage for unforeseen circumstances such as travel delay, flight cancellation, or baggage being damaged, delayed, or lost.

A comprehensive travel insurance plan may offer the most benefits for travelers to Egypt, as this covers multiple travel-related concerns. These plans often include travel medical coverage as well as coverage for a variety of travel-related circumstances. Delays due to mechanical issues or dangerous weather conditions, lost or damaged baggage, and 24-hour traveler assistance are some common coverages that may be included in comprehensive travel insurance.
